Bio

Samwel Marube switched sports and continents to join NWACC as a cross country athlete.

A native of the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, Marube prepped in soccer and rugby at St. Peter's Abwao Secondary School in Migori, near the border with Tanzania.

Marube's exploits on the soccer pitch yielded a Most Valuable Player award and saw him top the goals list in 2021-22. He was convinced by NWACC Cross Country and Track and Field Head Coach Josphat Boit to become a cross country runner and made the move to Northwest Arkansas.

2025

Marube's second year in forest and lime green again saw his team win the NJCAA Region 2 championship and place in the top 20 at the NJCAA Division II National Championships.

He finished all six of the Eagles' team events and recorded his season best time at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival (30:50.2).

2024

Marube notched two top-ten finishes individually in his freshman season. He was 7th in the NWACC Opener with a time of 31:24.9, and his career PR of 27:31.8 was good for 6th at the NJCAA Region 2 Championship, helping NWACC win a fourth consecutive title.
