Squires Strengthens Cross, Track Crop for 2026
Local talent Madison Squires joins NWACC from Bentonville West and is expected to immediately contribute in Cross Country and distance events for Track and Field.
BENTONVILLE - The NWACC Cross Country and Track and Field programs collected their first signing of the 2026 class Tuesday with local product Madison Squires.
Currently a senior at Bentonville West High School, Squires made her commitment to the Eagles official with head coach Josphat Boit and head of sprints and jumps Chris Weller.
"I think signing at [NWACC] is the right fit for me," Squires said, "and being near my family just makes it better."
Boit and Weller had a strong positive impact on Squires' impression of the program.
"They just seem very proud about their team and really into it," Squires said. "That makes me feel comfortable about them being my coaches.
For Weller, the feeling of comfortability is mutual.
"Madison ran a [20-minute] 5k this year and [Bentonville West cross country assistant coach BJ Parish] seems to think she's only going to get better," Weller said. "[Squires] is going to fit right in with our girls, and I think Coach Boit's got a good plan with those kids and the dynamics are good."
Squires will run for the NWACC Cross Country program in the fall upon arrival and will feature as a distance runner with NWACC Track and Field. She was one of two 800-meter participants representing Bentonville West in the 6A West Conference Championships in 2024 as a sophomore, and she ran alongside NWACC at the 2025 Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
The NWACC Track and Field schedule for the 2026 outdoor season will be released soon.
