Eagles Paced By Kurgat in Kansas
Freshman distance specialist Gloria Kurgat obliterated her 5,000-meter best and also bested her 800-meter PR
PITTSBURG, Ks. - NWACC Track and Field completed its fourth meet of the season Saturday at the 18th Annual David Suenram Classic, led by a pair of personal bests from freshman distance runner Gloria Kurgat.
THROWING
Freshman discus thrower Madilyn Guy was up first, registering two accurate throws with a best distance of 18.77 meters.
Freshman Omar Medina competed in shot put, logging a 13.79-meter attempt in his final of three throws.
SPRINTS
The men's 4x100 relay produced its best time of the season, coming up with a 44.89 run. Sophomores Brandon Lindenmuth and Owen Seusy and freshmen Logan Bouzek and Jakson Suit produced the best time of 2026.
In the 100-meter dash, Seusy led the Eagles with an 11.34 with a +2.6 wind grade, followed by Lindenmuth with an 11.36.
Lindenmuth ran an effective 51.89 in the 400, but was disqualified by what officials described as three steps on the line in his lane. Suit ran a 56.72 in the same event.
Freshman Talitha Venter delivered the first PR of the day in the women's 400 meters, collecting a 1:09.63. Sophomore Marian Hendricks cracked the top 20 in the event and finished just ahead of Venter with a 1:08.32.
The 200-meter dash kept Lindenmuth busy, where he again led the team with a 23.36. Seusy ran a 24.41 with a race-high +3.1 wind grade and Suit finished in 25.33.
In the women's 200-meter dash, Hendricks ran a 29.45 and Venter finished in 31.18 seconds.
DISTANCE
Freshman Benjamin Venter ran 1500 meters in 4:32.35 after running at the top of Heat 1 for three of the event's four laps. Venter finished third in the heat and 21st overall.
Sophomore Cindy Soto ran a 2:31.16 in the women's 800-meter run, good for 19th. Kurgat came across in 2:36.19, her first PR of the day.
The women's 5,000-meter run closed out the evening, as Kurgat and Soto ran a 19:22.06 (2nd) and 19:53.51 (5th), respectively. Kurgat smashed her previous PR in the process, coming across the line nearly a minute faster than her previous best outing.
JUMPS
Freshman Logan Bouzek fouled his first two triple jump attempts before sustaining an injury which left him unable to finish the remainder of his attempts.
NEXT UP
The Eagles are in action for a third consecutive weekend, staying in Northwest Arkansas for the Arkansas Spring Invitational April 11 in Fayetteville.
