Meet Preview - David Suenram Gorilla Classic
NWACC's fourth meet of the 2026 season sends them back to Kansas for a meet hosted by NCAA DII institution Pittsburg State University
The NWACC Men's and Women's Track and Field teams make their second trip to Kansas Saturday for the 18th Annual David Suenram Gorilla Classic, hosted by Pittsburg State University at Carnie Smith Stadium in Pittsburg, Ks.
The Eagles will be in action across all disciplines, including throws, jumps, sprints and distance, marking the first throwing events for freshmen Omar Medina and Madilyn Guy since March 12.
Five freshmen set personal bests last week at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa; Logan Bouzek (23.40) and Jakson Suit (24.61) earned PRs in the 200-meter dash, while Suit added another in the 400 (56.82), Benjamin Venter set a new best in the 800-meter run (2:10.07) and Gloria Kurgat PRed the 1500-meter run (5:16.73).
The meet Saturday will feature 15 collegiate programs and will christen the new track and field facility on PSU's campus south of the Robert W. Plaster Center. Throwing events kick off the meet, starting at 10 a.m.; Guy is the first NWACC athlete to compete, with women's discus scheduled for 12:15 p.m.
Track events begin at 2 p.m., with the Eagles beginning at 2:35 p.m. with the men's 4x100-meter relay. Running events will continue until the women's 5000-meter run, which has an estimated start time of 8:55 p.m.
