Local Product Solidifies 2026 Class
Bentonville West senior Mayson Trantham stays in town and brings a versatile skillset to the track and field program.
BENTONVILLE - Men's Track and Field head coach Josphat Boit added to his 2026 class Tuesday with the signing of Bentonville-based sprinter Mayson Trantham.
A well-rounded sprinter and mid-distance runner for the Wolverines, Trantham figures to slot in primarily in the 400-meter dash and the 800-meter run.
"When I talked to [NWACC head of sprints and jumps Chris] Weller, he really broke down how he trains his athletes and works with them, individually and as a team," Trantham said. "I thought that could help me develop in the future."
Trantham will have one final season with the Wolverines before making the crosstown move.
"I talked to his coach, [BJ] Parish, for a while, and he gave a good recommendaton for Mason," Weller said. "[He's] communicated to me when [he] didn't have to about his times and just the excitement of coming to NWACC."
In his junior year in Spring 2025, Trantham notched a 200-meter time of 24.93 at the West Relays, good for 37th on the all-time school record list. His 54.10 in the 400 at the Fayetteville Bulldog Relays is 21st in school history.
"He can run pretty fast; he's got some speed and endurance," Weller said. "It'll be exciting to fit him in."
NWACC Track and Field kicks off its 2026 outdoor season in March, with the full lineup of events still to come.
